The main consequence of su ch a form of dispersed ownership is that there exists a gap between the owners representing the principals of the firm and those who are responsible for the running the day to day operations of the firm who are known as agents. Thus as Shelifer and Vishny (1997) state, agency theorists aim to understand how investors get the mangers to give them back their money and hence minimize agency costs. According to Jensen & Meckling (1976) since the relationship between the owners and managers of a corporation is that of a pure agency relationship, the issues associated with the separation of ownership and control in the modern ownership corporation are also mostly agency based. The Stewardship ModelIn the stewardship model,

Nature vs. Nurture Essay Example for Free

Nature vs. Nurture EssayIt is a matter of concern whether human behaviors and char dissembleeristics are determined by reputation or upgrade. If a soulfulnesss behavior is communicable directly from the genes of his/her parents or separate biological factor ins, then it is the nature that determines his character. scarce if the environ manpowert that a person grew up in, concerns his behavior, then it is the nurture that determines his/her character. It became a great matter of controversy among scientists, psychologists and sociologists. Previously, many people believed that human behavior was instinctive. It can neither be taught nor learned. that later some psychologists came to the conclusion that human behavior is learned throughout the lifetime which is not instinctive. I believe that it is the combination of some(prenominal) nature and nurture that determine whizzs characteristics. Nature nevertheless or nurture only cannot be the determining factors for iod ins behavior and characteristic. A persons behavior is determined by the equal blend of nature and nurture.Brent Staples in his essay Black Men and Pubic Space proves that ones character cannot always be determined by their race which is a biological factor or ones upbringing and society. But both the nature and the nurture affect the way one be gestates, I grew up one of the easily boys, had perhaps a half dozen fistfights. In retrospect, my shyness of combat has clear sources (Staples 315). Although the society he lived in was not good, he became a good person. It might be because of his behavior inherited from his parents and the good manner he was taught by his parents. So both nature and nurture by his parents work here and the environment of bad people didnt affect his behavior. However, he once says that Women are particularly vulnerable to street violence, and young black males are drastic alto lay downhery overrepresented among the perpetrators of that violence (Staples315 ). This makes the reader little confuse whether he himself is being racist, further he is actually trying to explain that particularly African American males commit crimes more than others because of the environment they grew up in and the select they made. This may not be because of particularly being a black man, but because of the culture he has adopted since his childhood. Here he somehow takes the stance of nurture. Many black people are assumed to be criminals. People judge them just by their appearance and the impression black people have made in todays world. But this does not always mean that every black people are criminals and itstheir biological factor that makes them do crimes. We can take the archetype of Brent Staple. Even though he was an educated and good person, many people and especially white women alarm of him. But he was neither an uneducated person nor a criminal. He was brought up in a good family and properly nurtured by his parents. Therefore, nurturing became the factor for his behavior. Similarly, at that place are examples given by another author Amy Cunningham in her essay, Why Women Smile. Although she focuses primarily on a smile, she tends to explain the actual cause of ones behavior. She explains that a smile or particularly a womens smile comes from both natural happiness as well as the confide of people living around them, The behavior seems to be an equal blend of nature and nurture (Cunningham 190).She further explains that both a normal baby and a blind baby smiles, although it may take a little longer for the blind one. It means that the smiles are natural and should not be taught in all cases. However, there are situations where people and especially women are social pressurized to smile and show a good behavior even if they dont sine qua non to, Evidently, a womans happy, willing deference is something the world wants visibly demonstrated (Cunningham 191). It is both natural as well as nurtured along with the si tuations. For example It is more likely for a child to be a heal in the future if his dad is a doctor too. Nature plays an important character here because the intelligence of the child is inherited from his founding father. But if the child is not given proper care of his education or if the parents encourage him to be something quite than doctor, he may choose other professions too. If the child is given proper care and if he is psychologically prepared that he should be a doctor in the future, nature and nurture plays equal role. There are many debates still going on whether human behavior is affected by nature or nurture. Many psychologists and scientists are still researching on whether it is ones genes or the environment that affects ones behavior. Yes, ones genes affect their characteristics but the environment they are cultured in also affects the way they take actions. Since childhood, people are taught moral education at school and home. They learn how to talk, set, ac t and respond. These all are nurture. If they are given good lessons, they will be able to be good in the future. But if one does not get proper guidance, he will turn out to be a morally bad person. These are the examples of human behavior affected bynurture. When we moot about nature, different personality of people develops according to the genetics tendencies. For example it is likely for a person to have the habit of being aggressive if his father or his mother or any of his biological family has the same habit. Also there are many styles of talking, eating or walking that are inherited by ones parents or biological family.Paul Theroux somehow agrees the equality of nature and nurture. In his essay Being a Man, he explains how nature and nurture has affected a man to be like a man. According to him a girl since her childhood is encouraged to behave in a cute way but a boy is instructed to behave roughly or so called manly, It begins with mother encouraging little girls to say (to other adults? Do you like my new dress? In a sense, little girls are traditionally urged to please adults with a kind of coquettishness, while boys are enjoined to behave like monkeys toward each other. (Theroux177). This shows how a girl and a boy are nurtured differently which determines their characteristics. Healso takes the side of nature where some different behavior between men and women comes naturally, Femininity- being lady-like-implies needing a man as witness and seducer but masculinity celebrates the exclusive company of men (Theroux177). We can know from this that not only a nature of a girl or a boy separates each other from their behavior but also their parents or the environment or the nurturer encourage them to behave separately. Therefore, the behavior is determined by both nature and nurture. In conclusion, it can be stated that human behavior are both the result of nature and nurture. One can neither neglect the effect of biological factors one have on them n or disprove the behaviors that are affected by the environment one is living in. It is important for a person to have a good environment even if his biological parents are good in nature. Also, some characters are inherited from genes of ones parents that might last forever although he is far from his parents. Therefore, both the nature as well as nurture has equal effect on determining human behavior.Work CitedStaples, Brent. Black Men and Public Space. The Norton ref An Anthology of Nonfiction. Events Management Report on Fan Expo - Canada Essay Example for Free

Events Management Report on lover exhibition Canada EssayThis report has been commissioned by James Armstrong of Hobby star topology Marketing to critically analyse and evaluate the buff Expo Canada eccentric. A command everyplaceview of the particular will be provided as well as the event category it falls under and the implications of this. The event will then be analysed in terms of its affectionate impact, the stakeholders complicated and economic implications. This report is limited to the event information available on the internet and in the prescribed text for theory based arguments. This report aims to intimate Hobby Star Marketing on the current and future states of their event and as related to tourism theory, what impact this may have on affable and economic factors, as well as impact on event stakeholders as a whole. In conclusion recommendations will be put antecedent as to the best approach for event organisers to take in the future to ensure all sta keholders ar kept well-off as well as the wider partnership.2.0 Description of EventFan Expo Canada is held annually at the end of each summer in Toronto Canada and brags three days of non-stop festivities in the areas of video games, anime, science fiction, horror and humorous entertains. The exhibition has been running for 12 years with its name recently being changed from the Canadian National Expo. Fan Expo is held primarily in the Toronto Metro crowd Centre and last year boasted over 37 000 admissions.Fan Expo is a unique event targeted to a specific range of markets. Having been dubbed in the noncurrent the Nerd Prom, the Fan Expo draws visitants from all around the globe to Toronto Canada, enhancing awareness of the region and its status in sport, anime, science fiction, horror and comic book realms. due to these factors it is suitable to classify this expo as a Hallmark event. This type of event is typically defined as a major one clipping or recurring event of l imited duration developed primarily to enhance awareness or appeal and profitability of a tourism depot in the short or long term. In order to obtain success such events rely primarily on their uniqueness, status or seasonably significance to create both interest and to attract attention (Ritchie, 1984, p.2 Getz 1997 pp.5-6 in Allen et al. 2005). Fan Expo is highly significant to its target markets and provides the host venue, fraternity and close as a whole with a competitiveadvantage over other conventions of a simular nature in North America (third largest event of its mannequin in this region) (Hobbystar 2006).3.0 favorable Impact3.1 Social BenefitsAll events have a direct social and cultural impact on their participants and sometimes on the broader host communities (Hall, 1989 Getz, 1997 in Allen et al. 2005). In terms of the Fan Expo, the social impacts are expansive and many benefits come to fruition as a result of the event taking place. one and only(a) in particula r is the validation of community groups associated with the event. A positive impact can be seen here through the acknowledgment of local anesthetic comic book artists, with the talents of the normally ostracised minority being recognised and applauded at an international level. As the community is one of the major event stakeholders, non only are these groups pass but further encouragement of community participation as well results due to the overwhelming achievements of specific community members.Social constancy and community pride are again other factors that result in benefits to the community of Toronto. Fan Expo brings tourists from all over the world to one epi nerve center of likeminded people. Through this experience the local community may volunteer and band together to present their city in the greatest state possible to expo visitors. The impact this effect has on the tourists is also significant as it encourages migration attractiveness as well as an increased posi tive image tourists have about the city of Toronto. This has a deuce fold effect as the community also notes the economic gain of for compositors case encouraging a major video game expert to move to Toronto (stronger and more competitive local economy). In retrospect the community is more socially aware of itself and its visitors and is more likely to retain and develop higher visitor rates due to its strengthened welcoming culture. The convergence of these likeminded diligence experts also facilitates an arena for the development of new ideas and partnerships both within the industry and between expo visitors. Tourists that bring already existing ideas to the expo then can have that idea realised through the resources of local and visiting industry experts (i.e. a gaming designer that wants tosell his or her idea to a major video game corporation). The potential for economic growth due to this convergence is quite extraordinary.3.2 Social CostsOf the research conducted about wh at social cost Fan Expo has had to the local community, one common theme that was realised was the apparent facilitation of strongarm tactics. In an overview of what was discovered, local comic book retailers were being forced by expo organisers each feature solely in their expo (not other competing expos) or not feature at all. The local community backlash from this decision was quite significant with many key industry leaders in the community moving to ostracise the Fan Expo event. The ramifications of this monopolistic type approach on the community can cause not only resentment towards event participants and tourists, but also commodification of the event because of the lack of attendance of original industry leaders and pioneers (eg. instead of the creator of the comic book The Phantom attending in person, Fan Expo constructs a video montage of the comic book creator and his work instead). This can cause dissonance between fans and organisers as what was formerly expected and a major highlight of the event is now replaced with a display that for most fans, the information presented is not uncommonly found on say the internet. On a whole, community resentment for the event taking place in their city can occur but also tourist resentment for the visiting the close in the future is also a possibility. Social consequence such as criminal activity may occur as a result, specifically if some visitors have travelled a significant distance to attend the event.4.0 StakeholdersIn regards to the stakeholders for Fan Expo Canada, a number of categories can be utilize to separate the role and objectives of each. In terms of the host organisation, the Toronto City Council is a major figurehead as the support from local government for funding and other regulatory and staffing concerns is vital to the success of this event. Hobby Star Marketing as a corporation is also another obvious stakeholder as they are the primary quill event organisers and have substantial amo unts ofresources injected into fate of this event. The Toronto Metro Convention Centre is also another key stakeholder as the event is being held at their premise. Their objectives for the event will be to ensure their function areas function as they should throughout the expo as well as working closely with Hobby Star to ensure all logistical requirements are executed without delay or error.Toronto as a community is also a primary stakeholder as its inter-group communication and expectations for the event are additionally significant. For Hobby Star, their understanding of the local community is a key factor for the event to be a success. Specifically in this case, the understanding of local community comic book or gaming groups and societies will enable event organisers to develop the event to cater for the needs of these groups. moreover representatives from these groups could provide recommendations and assistance for future event ideas. In doing so the community expectations c an be more accurately met and overall dissonance of the event significantly reduced (Allen et al. 2005).In terms of the media, local television, radio and print associations are also termed stakeholders as they have been invested in and have also dedicated resources to either cover the event progress or advertise the event in the weeks leading up. Due to the events widespread appeal, web media would also be considered an important stakeholder as accurate information needs to be communicated to tourists planning on attending. Web media is also important to monitor because as noted earlier, backlash or community opinions are not contained within the community when the web is involved, and negative impacts can occur quickly through use of the internet.Other stakeholders include event staff, volunteers and centre management and staff. Their role is to ensure the event plan is executed in force(p)ly and their presence as a required resource must also be nurtured through not only being catered for and looked after during the event, but also recognition for their contributions once the event has ended. One way this is performed is by volunteers being given over free access to any event over the three days before and after their allotted shift time (Happy Star 2006). For any eventto be truly effective, the vision and philosophy of the event must be shared by all of the team (Allen et al. 2005).The participants of the event which include guest speakers, retailers, performers, industry professionals and the general public are also significant stakeholders. To make the event memorable and meaningful, the event manager must ensure all of these figureheads are satisfied in terms of what they want to get out of the event, which includes their physical needs of comfort, safety and security. At Fan Expo in 2006, it is the 40th anniversary of the endure of Star Trek and the key guest speakers are two famous stars from the original television series. Their involvement and s atisfaction of how the event is run and managed will be reflected on how well they address the audience and subsequently the level of enjoyment the spectators receive.5.0 Economic AnalysisThe economic standpoint in regards to events is the make or meliorate factor events must generate revenue to be successful. Therefore one of the most important impacts is the tourism revenue generated by an event (Allen et al. 2005). External visitors not only spend money on the event itself such as tickets and merchandise but also on items such as travel, accommodation and other goods and services available in the host city. This economic influx is sometimes depended on in many smaller communities however in the case of Toronto, effective tourism can result in visitors that are in town for the event to extend their stay and consequently increase spending (Allen et al. 2005).As set forth in Section 3.1, many business opportunities are possible through the interaction of local and visiting indust ry members. Furthermore their interaction with the local community and its economy may also give way for tourists to increase stay or indeed make a bid to stay permanently. For the expo, this could mean opportunities for more qualified industry leaders to be a part of the planning process for the succeeding(a) years expo. The overall benefits for Fan Expo could include for example the cast voices for the latest Star Trek game to be sourced and recorded in Toronto due to Microsoft Games setting up headquarters after negotiations. In hindsight whilst the volume of the Fan Expo is based around a market and display type setup, there are also many exclusive forums and networking conferences that occur over the weekend to further facilitate the creation of business opportunities (Hobby Star 2006).Higher rates of employment can also result from this event employment requirements for Fan Expo itself but also local industry members showcasing their talents then being offered work at a majo r firm. This can also have a negative effect as the local talent is snapped up and shipped out to other cities or countries, possibly damaging the part of the local economy they were once involved in. On the other hand if nurtured the community member could leave to gain more knowledge then return to the city, bringing with them a wealth of knowledge and experience that could significantly increase the economy of the city and region. On the agenda of negative economic impacts, opportunity cost can clearly be linked to the issues expound in Section 3.2 in regards to strongarm tactics allegedly being used by Hobby Star Marketing. With retailers being forced to take aim between festivals, the chance for economic gain is lost. Spectators that cannot attend the Fan Expo are left with no alternatives to view and purchase expo items and retailers in general loose out because of reduced exposure. This consequently forces retailers to ascertain which festival would be more financially benef icial to them, hence reducing exposure and possible freeing of business opportunities. As stated in Section 3.2 this can generate a negative reputation for Happy Star and the Fan Expo in general and have many negative social and economic impacts.6.0 ConclusionsThis report has provided an overview of the Fan Expo Canada event and classified into the Hallmark event category. The event was then analysed in terms of its social impact, the stakeholders involved and economic implications. This report has found that Fan Expo appeals to a unique market and draws visitors to the town of Toronto. It has outlined pertinent stakeholders and their goals and found that increased integration of local community groups with the planning process of the expo could be beneficial to future success and reduced dissonance. This report described the importance of economic planning and how decisions that are made in the best interests of the event may not be in the best interests of the wider community.Thi s report aims to dismiss Hobby Star Marketing on the current and future states of their event and as related to tourism theory, what impact this may have on social and economic factors, as well as impact on event stakeholders as a whole. In conclusion recommendations will be put preceding as to the best approach for event organisers to take in the future to ensure all stakeholders are kept satisfied as well as the wider community.7.0 RecommendationsIn hindsight to this report, the following recommendations are madeIncrease communication with community industry leaders to ascertain the best approach in organising the event so maximum exposure can be generated.Further develop networking events at the expo and facilitate the creation of business opportunities and discovery of new talent in the local community.Promote to industry leaders the benefits of setting up operations in the community and tie this in with a major showcasing of their products at the following years expo.Work clo ser with Toronto City Council to further promote local and regional tourism to increase longer stays and increased economic activity. contract dissonance by operating competitively and ethically with other expos.List of ReferencesAllen, J OToole, W Harris, R McDonnell, I 2005, Festival and Special Event Management, canful Wiley Sons, Milton.Hobby Star 2006, Fan Expo Canada, viewed 20 August 2006, Getz, D 1997, Event Management and Event Tourism, Cognizant Communication Corporation, New York.Wikimedia Foundation 2006, Fan Expo Canada, viewed 6 August 2006,

The refrigerators business contributes to 48% of the Comp anys sales and this trend is expected continue in years to come (which is reflected in the figures for 2005-06 in the table below).2.3 SWOT Analysis2.3.1 StrengthsPEL has the following strengths and is in more competitive position in these areas than its competitors. Following are the main strong points of PEL.2.3.1.1 Strong Brand ImagePEL has created the strong brand image in the mind of the customers through higher quality and low price. The customers of the PEL forever prefer to buy the PEL home appliances like WRAC split AC and refrigerators whenever they wanted to buy.2.3.1.2 Strong Dealer NetworkIt is also the plus point for the PEL that it has also developed the strong dealer network in the market. The dealers are perpetually trying to sell the PEL appliance to the customers because they know there are high margin in the PEL products. They can get more money after selling the PEL products. The window room air conditioner is more demanded by the customers than its competitors air conditioners because it has more durability in operate systems and cools the room in few minutes. PEL always strives to provide the innovative features in WRAC. PEL air conditioner is cheaper and has a higher quality than others WRAC. Thats why customers always purchase the PEL window air conditioner.2.3.1.5 Leader In Power DivisionIn Pakistan the PEL is almost leader in power division. close to all po wer division are provided by PEL to wapda.2.3.2 WeaknessesOvercome on these weaknesses then it can become a market leader in the home appliance. Like other companies PEL has nearly weaknesses in operating the business. If PEL loses some competitive edge in the following points2.3.2.1 Lack Of adPEL was a very lack of advertisement concord to other appliances companies. So it is a big weakness of PEL.2.3.2.2 Lack Of Product RangePEL has introduced more products of consumer items but there are more needs to develop invigorated consumer items like PEL washing Machines, Vacuum cleaner and other items. re founderable to lack of product Range, Company cannot earn more clear because consumers have high demand of these products and they say that if company is investing in these products then we can keep all PEL items and we never need to keep others company products.2.3.2.3 Financial ProblemsSometimes PEL faces the financial problems because its stocks are so much piled up in the store s that create the problem of cash flow because when the stocks are not sold and the production is in process for 24 hours a day than the company faces such problems.2.3.3 OpportunitiesFor the PEL there are more opportunities for expansion the business. If PEL realize that opportunities then it will be more fruitful and profitable for the company.2.3.3.1 exploration of Market In PakistanPEL has the opportunity to explore the market in all over the Pakistan. Even though PEL introduce its products in all cities of Pakistan but there are so many places that have the capacity to absorb the PELs products.2.3.3.2 Increase in Product RangeIt is the main opportunity for the PEL that it can increase its product range that will be a more profitable for the company. There are more needs to develop new consumer items like PEL washing Machines, Vacuum cleaner and other items. due to lack of product Range, Company cannot earn more profit because consumers have high demand of these products.2.3.3. 3 exportation OpportunityPEL Company has also the opportunity to export their products in other international countries like UAE, SAUDI ARABIA, and other Arabic and African countries.2.3.4 ThreatsPEL Company in such a competitive era has many threats as well. These threats are for the present situations and future. Company should make its policies and strategies according to these threats. So following are the main threats for the PEL2.3.4.1 Strong CompetitionThere is very strong competition for the home appliance in the market. So every company tries to come in the number 1 position for achieving the maximum shares in the market.2.3.4.2 Chinas ProductChinas products are another threat for the Pakistani companies because these products are cheaper than the Pakistani products. An even china product not well in quality but it is comparatively in low prices than the consumers home appliance that are manufactured by the indigenous company.2.3.4.3 Price WarAs there is stiff competition i n the home appliance market that will cause the price war. So every company take d protests the prices of its products to increase the sales. It will not only reduce the profit margin of the company but also reduce the quality of products. So price war is the main threats for all the companies, which are operating in these products.2.3.4.4 Instability Of GovernmentThe rapid changes in governments will become threats for the companies because every government adopts its own policies for the industries. So it increases the uncertainty for the investors who want to invest heavy amount in their new projects.2.4 Future Strategy PEL is one of the most widely recognized brands in the domestic refrigerator market. It is the second largest local manufacturer and one of the leading brands. For the past four years the Companys market share growth averaged 2% per annum. With continuous efforts in RD, PEL is concentrating on quality of product and cost minimization. The Company is considering t echnical collaboration for value appendix through planned capital expenditures. Increased sales of manufactured refrigerators coupled with sales of split air conditioners are the major factors contributing growth in the appliances business. Other products are also being introduced as a part of Companys strategy to broaden its product range. 2.5 Competitive AnalysisThe prices are concerned PEL is charging reasonable prices to its customer for all of its microwaves comparatively from others. Prices charged by National, which is a multinational firm, are very higher in comparison with others because it uses special Nipponese parts in its microwaves and ensures high quality and performance and only rich class shows interest in National Products.According to the retailers information, people are quenched with the prices charged by PAK Elektron but still their preferences go along with Dawlence microwaves because of its highly created awareness.CHAPTER NO 3LEARNING AS STUDENTThis chapt er has been divided into four sections In section one, I have discussed my duties as a internee during internship, In the second section, I mentioned accomplishments, In the third section I briefed my problems which I faced during internship and in the last and fourth section I offered that how this internship experience impact on my carrier.3.1 Learning and DutiesIn finance department there are three sections.embodied sectionLeasing and pledgeBudgeting3.1.1 Corporate SectionIn corporate finance I worked in different units.
